Based on the manufacturing process first developed at its Chicago, US facility, MicroLink Devices UK is establishing a high-volume solar cell fabrication facility in Baglan, S Wales. Job Description:

MicroLink Devices UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support the transfer, sustainment, and further development of its GaAs-based solar cells manufacturing process. MicroLink Devices has developed this advance solar cell technology in the United States and is in the process of transferring the process to its UK operations. MicroLink Devices’ solar cell technology is fabricated using an epitaxial lift-off (ELO) process to produce ultra-thin, GaAs-based multi-junction solar cells for space, UAV, and terrestrial applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Aiding in the process transfer of GaAs ELO solar cell fabrication from the US to UK facilities.

2. Further developing processes for GaAs ELO solar cell fabrication (photolithography, wet and dry etch, metallization, AR coating) on the available toolsets.

3. Providing process engineering support for ongoing solar cell manufacturing

Prior experience in the fabrication of solar cells or related optoelectronic components is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Support transfer of manufacturing process from US to UK facilities.

· Carry out new process development as part of the Process Engineering team.

· Implement improvements to existing manufacturing processes to increase yield and throughput.

· Work with semiconductor tool vendors to evaluate, purchase and qualify new tool sets.

· Carry out root cause analysis of manufacturing yield issues.

· Establish and monitor statistical process control (SPC) control charts for production processes.

· Create and update work instructions to document processes.

· Assist in the training of production technicians.

· Establish regular preventative maintenance procedures for production tool sets.

· Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment.

· Contribute to report and proposal preparation as required.

Education and Qualification:

· M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field is desired.

· Experience in semiconductor device design and process development.

· Must be a native English speaker or proficient in the language to CEFR level C1 or greater.

MicroLink Devices has developed this advance solar cell technology in the United States and is in the process of transferring the process to its UK operations. MicroLink Devices’ solar cell technology is fabricated using an epitaxial lift-off (ELO) process to produce ultra-thin, GaAs-based multi-junction solar cells for space, UAV, and terrestrial applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Characterizing and qualifying cell performance to meet customer requirements.

2. Transitioning cell development from laboratory demonstration to production scale.

3. Lead the space qualification efforts for solar cells and arrays.

Prior experience in the design and development of solar cells or related optoelectronic components is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Lead the space qualification efforts for photovoltaic devices including packaged solar cells and solar arrays.

· Conduct photovoltaic device development activities as part of the Engineering team.

· Develop multi-junction solar cell design concepts and structures to provide performance improvements over existing technologies.

· Perform device and materials characterization on multi-junction devices to assess cell performance and identify paths for improvement.

· Participate in process development in collaboration with wafer fabrication team.

· Evaluate and improve existing methods for solar cell test and characterization.

· Evaluate and identify new tools required for characterization of bare cells and packaged cell assemblies.

· Assist in transfer of new products and processes to manufacturing.

· Assist in design of new products and technology platforms.

· Assist in development of new processes for packaging wafer-scale, ultra-thin solar cells in lightweight, flexible assemblies.

· Interface with customers when required.

· Contribute to report and proposal preparation as required.

Education and Qualification:

· M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field is desired.

MicroLink Devices has developed this advance solar cell technology in the United States and is in the process of transferring the process to its UK operations. MicroLink Devices’ solar cell technology is fabricated using an epitaxial lift-off (ELO) process to produce ultra-thin, GaAs-based multi-junction solar cells for space, UAV, and terrestrial applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Processing semiconductor wafers in a cleanroom environment.

2. Operating and monitoring process tools in support of solar cell wafer manufacturing.

3. Support Process Engineering in the development of the solar cell wafer manufacturing process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Work with the technical and engineering staff to keep the manufacturing line running effectively.

· Wafer handling, loading/unloading of wafers, starting tool recipes, performing wafer level measurements, and data entry.

· Position requires the use and handling of hazardous chemical and high voltage and RF power supplies.

· Successful candidate much be able to follow established safety rules and procedures for working in a clean room.

· Must be able to follow processing specifications.

· Must be able to effectively communicate.

· Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Education and Qualification:

· BTEC HNC or equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Technologies, Materials Science, or related field.
